The Big 12 Conference has made the decision to reschedule its annual football media days from July 20-21 to Aug. 3, the conference announced Wednesday.

The 2020 Football Media Days presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors was moved from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to a virtual platform due to the coronavirus pandemic. The league proposed the change Wednesday to its football coaches and athletic directors, who agreed during a virtual meeting to the new format.

“As everyone is aware, our head coaches and student-athletes have not been able to collectively engage in organized team functions since athletics activities were suspended in March. We felt it was prudent to give coaches a chance to re-acclimate with their teams prior to participating in our annual season preview event,” said Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby.
A revised version of the original July 20-21 media day schedule will be available in the coming days.

The Big 12 is yet to make any decisions on changes to the season despite other Power 5 announcements last week to play conference-only schedules this fall. Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said it was still too early to make decisions about changing the football season or other fall sports.
As of now, the Mountaineers are set to take on the ACC’s Florida State University on Sept. 5 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to start the 2020 season.
