Big 12 Unveils Full Conference Schedule for WVU Basketball
In conjunction with the Big 12, the WVU basketball program has announced its full conference schedule for the 2025-26 season.
Overall, WVU will play 18 conference games with nine games at home and nine on the road. Six of WVU’s nine home games will take place on weekends.
The Mountaineers will open Big 12 play at Iowa State on Friday, Jan. 2. WVU’s first home league game will be against Cincinnati on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
WVU’s weekend home games at the Coliseum will be against Kansas (Jan. 10), Colorado (Jan. 17), Baylor (Jan. 31), Texas Tech (Feb. 8), BYU (Feb. 28) and UCF (March 6). In addition to Cincinnati, the Mountaineers will play host Kansas State (Jan. 27) and Utah (Feb. 18) in midweek games.

The Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship will be held March 10-14 in Kansas City, Missouri.
But before getting into the conference slate, WVU’s nonconference schedule will feature nine regular season games plus an exhibition contest on Oct. 26.
West Virginia will officially start the regular season and the Ross Hodge era at home on Nov. 4 against Mount St. Mary’s. The Mountaineers hold a 6-0 all-time lead against Mount St. Mary’s with every meeting taking place at the WVU Coliseum.
For some other notable games, the Mountaineers will host Pitt for the Backyard Brawl on Thursday, Nov. 13. The two teams will meet for the 192nd time with WVU leading the all-time series, 101-90.
For the second time, the Mountaineers will participate in the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic in Charleston, South Carolina, on Nov. 21 and 23. WVU and Clemson will meet in the first game, followed by a meeting with either Georgia or Xavier in the final game of the tournament.
On Saturday, Dec. 6, the Mountaineers will play in Charleston, West Virginia, for the first time since 2016. WVU and Wake Forest will begin a two-game neutral site series this season and will play the following season in Greensboro, North Carolina. The two teams will meet for the 11th time in school history, with WVU leading 7-3. The two teams last met in the second round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament with WVU winning in double overtime, 111-105.
WVU and Ohio State will meet once again in Cleveland in the Cleveland Hoops Showdown on Saturday, Dec. 13. WVU defeated No. 2 Ohio State in Cleveland in 2019 and last met in 2023 in Cleveland, falling to the Buckeyes in overtime.
