Blue Jays Sign WVU Baseball Hits Leader Sam White
Another former WVU baseball player has earned a shot with an MLB franchise. The Toronto Blue Jays have signed Sam White to a free agent deal, as announced on Friday.
White, who just finished his junior year, was an All Big 12 honorable mention and ABCA All-East Region first team for his play in 2025.
White led the Mountaineers with a .361 batting average and 69 hits. He also recorded 46 RBI, 47 runs and 17 doubles, finishing second on the team in each category.
White holds a career college average of .310 through three seasons.

A native of Aurora, Ontario, Canada, White now has an opportunity to start his professional career in the system of his country’s only MLB franchise.
White will become the third former Mountaineer in the Blue Jays organization along with pitcher Alek Manoah and outfielder and former WVU teammate Braden Barry.
West Virginia now has now seen seven players from the 2025 roster either get drafted or sign as free agents with MLB teams.
