After the Big Ten conference announced that it will be moving to conference-only schedules for its fall sports in 2020, including football, Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby told CBS Sports that he thinks it is still too early to make decisions on 2020’s schedule.

“We need to do what our doctors and our scientists are telling us, which is move slowly ahead and constantly reevaluate,” Bowlsby told Dennis Dodd Thursday. “The virus is going to decide whether we’re ready and able to play.”

Bowlsby said that he had no inclination that the Big Ten would be making this move prior to its announcement Thursday afternoon. Big 12 teams will lose two games due to this decision, Iowa State at Iowa and Maryland at West Virginia.

Bowlsby said that the league developed a conference-only football schedule eight weeks ago just in case it would be needed.
