West Virginia is highly involved with a pair of 2022 Neumann-Goretti recruits, and the first of the pair will be announcing his decision today.

Three-star athlete Raleigh Collins III will announce his college decision today at 6 p.m. via Twitter, with in-state Penn State and WVU serving as his finalists.

While Collins (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) didn’t officially visit Morgantown, his experiences at a prospect camp turned into an unofficial visit and workout with WVU special teams coordinator and inside linebackers coach Jeff Koonz.

West Virginia Sports Now spoke with Collins in late June following his vote, and he was impressed with the program’s improvement under WVU head coach Neal Brown.

“The thing that really stood out to me about the visit was seeing the $55 million renovation that was done to the football facilities,” Collins said. “It was crazy. I was also really, really impressed by their recovery room. They had all these cryo machines and Epsom salt baths that players are able to jump into after practice, which allows them to get back to where they need to be physically. I also got to see the cold tubs and hot tubs that the players use. It was really nice to see all of that.

With offers from Army, Boston College, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Howard, Kansas, Maryland, UMASS, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, Temple and WVU, Collins was in high demand.

A recruiting battle with Penn State in order to win a battle over a highly-touted Pennsylvania prospect would be a big win for Neal Brown and WVU.

According to 247Sports, Collins is the 544th-ranked recruit in the cycle. 247Sports ranks him as the 55th-rated linebacker and 16th-rated recruit from Pennsylvania. Rivals ranks him as the 57th-rated cornerback and 17th-rated recruit from Pennsylvania. Rivals has not projected Collins, but 247Sports has projected him to land with WVU.

Four-star wide receiver Kevin Thomas included WVU in his Top 5, but he has not announced a decision date yet.
