Making an impact in the limited time she’s on the court, JJ Quinerly scored a WNBA career-high and helped the Dallas Wings win their first game of the season on Tuesday night.

Quinerly scored five points in just four minutes of action, highlighted by a pull-up jumper on one-leg. The Wings, now 1-4 on the year, would beat the Connecticut Sun 109-87.

Dallas drafted Quinerly with the 27th overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft in April.

Quinerly will go down as one of the greatest players in WVU womenโ€™s basketball history. Staying with the Mountaineers through three different head coaches, Quinerly led the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances while racking up three All-Big 12 first-team selections, back-to-backย Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Awardsย and twoย All-American honorable mentions. She finished her WVU career in theย top three of all-time career pointsย and steals.

The Virginia native averaged a career-high 20.4 points this season with 3.2 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. She scored double-digit points in all but one game this season, reaching 20 points 14 times and 30 points three times. She matched the program record for single-game scoring with 38 points on Senior Day against Utah.

Quinerly led WVU to a 25-8 record this season, making it to the semifinal round of the Big 12 Tournament. The Mountaineer earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament and defeated Columbia in the opening round before falling to North Carolina.

โ€œI hope she gets her number called on draft night and gets in a training camp and goes and makes us all proud,โ€ WVU coach Mark Kellogg said at the NCAA Tournament. โ€œThe hard work is in front of her, but I think sheโ€™s prepared.โ€

West Virginia has a good history with the WNBA draft with six selections over the last 11 years. Most recently, Kysre Gondrezick became the Mountaineersโ€™ highest-ever selection being picked fourth overall by the Indiana Fever in 2021.

Quinerly officially declared for the 2025 WNBA Draft on March 29 shortly after signingย with GMG Sports & Entertainment management company.

I was enjoying the WNBA but need to get it out of my mind. The coaching is absolutely ridiculous and many are not qualified to coach. The idea here is to tease or disrupt the fans.Coaching, media , and the WNBA have teamed together to ruin the game !
