Keith Washington II will return for WVU vs Baylor, all other injured players remain out

At his weekly press conference Monday afternoon head coach Neal Brown confirmed that senior cornerback Keith Washington II will play Thursday night when the team takes on Baylor in Waco.

Washington has been sidelined with a lower-body muscle injury that had restricted his mobility since the game against Texas on Oct. 5.

In his absence, true freshman Nicktroy Fortune started at cornerback against Iowa State and Oklahoma. Fellow freshman Tae Mayo and safety Josh Norwood have also seen time at the position in Washington’s absence. Washington leads the Mountaineers in interceptions (three) and pass break-ups (six).

Brown also confirmed that linebacker Josh Chandler and receiver Sean Ryan remain out this week and defensive lineman Quondarius Qualls has been downgraded to doubtful.

Chandler was injured in the team’s most recent game at Oklahoma, Brown said last week that they expect him to be out for one month. True freshman Jared Bartlett will play in his place.

Ryan suffered an injury during the game against Texas that required surgery but is expected to return sometime this season.
