Mountaineers in mix for marquee transfer

Published

Yesterday, West Virginia found themselves firmly back on the market for another transfer, this being former 5-star recruit Demetris Robertson. Robertson was formally the number one overall receiver in the country according to 24/7 sports coming out of Savannah, Georgia.
Robertson announced that he will be making his decision next Saturday on July 14th between Alabama, Georgia, Texas and West Virginia via his commitment video which will be released by Chimin’ In Media.

He burst onto the scene as a true freshman in 2016 hauling in  50 receptions for 767 yards and 7 touchdowns, but had a minor setback in 2017. Last year Robertson only saw action in two games before he missed the remainder of the season with an undisclosed lower body injury that required surgery.

Dana Holgorsen has certainly become the godfather of the transfer market landing guys like Clint Trickett, Will Grier, T.J. Simmons, Jovani Haskins and many others, but this may be his toughest task to date. Having to compete with the likes of Texas and Alabama is one thing, but it will be difficult for him to stray him away from returning home and playing for Georgia. If Holgorsen is able to land Robertson’s services, that should silence the critics about this years “lack of commits.”

Robertson will have two years of eligibility remaining.
