Poll: How Would You Grade WVU Basketball Post-Huggins This Offseason?

WVU AD Wren Baker and Josh Eilert

WVU Basketball has had a chaotic offseason this summer, highlighted by Bob Huggins’ resignation in June. WVU interim HC Josh Eilert and coaching staff recruited five new Mountaineers to the roster since Huggins’ departure.

How would you grade WVU Basketball this offseason after Huggins?

Since Eilert took over, the coaching staff has added Akok Akok (F – Georgetown), Jeremiah Bembry (G – Florida State), Noah Farrakhan (G – Eastern Michigan), Ofri Naveh (F – Israel) and Quinn Slazinski (F – Iona/St. John’s). Farrakhan, WVU’s most recent commit, appeared in 31 games for the Eagles, averaging 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Farrakhan shot 43% from the field and 24% from three. He recorded 14 games of 20 points or more during his EMU career. Farrakhan scored 19 points, six rebounds and three assists against Michigan in Nov. 2022.

Farrakhan will need a waiver cleared by the NCAA since he is a multi-time undergraduate transfer. Farrakhan has two years of eligibility remaining.

West Virginia’s staff under Eilert also retained Kerr Kriisa and Jose Perez from the transfer portal and kept RaeQuan Battle and Jesse Edwards from entering the portal.

When promoted, Eilert hired two new assistants in Da’Sean Butler and Jordan McCabe. Eilert also promoted Alex Ruoff from a grad assistant position. James Dickey, former Texas Tech and Houston coach, will serve as the team’s senior advisor.

WV Sports Now will keep you up to date with West Virginia’s transfer portal recruiting.
