Postgame Reaction to WVU WBB’s Devastating Big 12 Tournament Loss to Oklahoma State

It doesn’t get much more devastating than the way the West Virginia women’s basketball team lost in the Big 12 Tournament.

Head coach Dawn Plitzuweit, who has led the Mountaineers to a solid season in her first year with the program, spoke about how her team played throughout most of the game and the emotions of losing in the final seconds to Oklahoma State. Sophomore guard JJ Quinerley joined her coach at the podium to answer questions.

She did not speak after the game, but senior guard Madisen Smith scored 23 points with one rebound and two assists in the game, possibly her last in her college career unless WVU is selected for postseason play.

WVU will now have time to rest as they wait their fate as far as the NCAA Women’s Tournament goes. After finishing fifth in the Big 12 in the regular season, the Mountaineers still do have a shot at receiving an at-large bid.
