Youngstown State head coach Jerrod Calhoun has signed a five-year contract extension that lasts until the 2027-28 season, as reported by Jon Rothstein. Calhoun, a former West Virginia assistant and head coach at Fairmont State, will continue to keep building the YSU program in the coming future.

Calhoun has served as YSU’s head coach for the last six seasons. During his time, Youngstown State has increased their win total from eight to 24 wins. This past season, the Penguins won the Horizon League Regular Season Title as Calhoun was named the conference’s coach of the year.

Prior to Youngstown State, Calhoun was an assistant at Walsh College and West Virginia. In 2012, the Ohio native took the Fairmont State head coaching job and led the Falcons to four NCAA D-II Tournament appearances in five years. Fairmont State was a runner-up in 2017.
