WVU legend Jerry West has been elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2024 as a contributor, sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This is the third time West will be enshrined into the Hall of Fame. West was inducted in the Hall of Fame as a player back in 1980 and a member of the 1960 United States Olympic team in 2010.

West is honored for his GM work with the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies, as well as being a consultant with the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.

Jerry West spent 39 seasons with the Lakers organization, playing from 1960-74, coaching from 1976-79 and serving as the executive from 1979-2000. West won six NBA Championships within his time spent with the Lakers before serving as an executive for the Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers. Like with the Lakers, many credit West for laying the groundwork of what became the Warriors recent dynasty. West was a 14-time NBA All-Star, won the 1969 NBA Finals MVP and had his No. 44 retired by the franchise. West was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team back in 2022.

The 2024 Enshrinement Ceremony is set for Saturday, Aug. 17.
