In the middle of the Steelers’ preseason game on Saturday night, Zach Frazier was honored for his rookie year.

At halftime, the WVU product was presented with the “Joe Greene Great Performance Award” as Pittsburgh’s top performing rookie. This award was voted on by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America, in which WV Sports Now’s Mike Asti is a member.

Frazier became only the second center to win the award, joining Maurkice Pouncey when he earned the honor in 2010.

Frazier was drafted by the Steelers with the 51st overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Despite being a rookie and missing a couple games with an injury, Frazier was graded as one of the top centers in the NFL all year by PFF. He opened the season as Pittsburgh’s starting center due to a season- ending injury to incumbent Nate Herbig.

In a recent ESPN poll, Frazier ranked sixth among all NFL rookies. The poll took the opinion of five NFL analysts, including ESPN NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid.
