WVU Baseball Remains Ranked in Multiple Major Polls
Even after closing the weekend by blowing a big lead late, WVU baseball remains firmly ranked within multiple major polls.
As of Monday, March 2, Baseball America has West Virginia at No. 21 and D1 Baseball has the Mountaineers at No. 23.
WVU held a 6-0 lead after the top of the sixth inning in their Sunday loss to Kennesaw State.
The Mountaineers (8-2) then allowed seven unanswered runs with starting pitcher Maxx Yehl out of the game, falling 7-6 after they couldnโt scrape Matthew Graveline home following a one-out double.
Despite dropping Sunday’s game, West Virginia still won the series. They won 9-1 on Saturday and dominated the series opener on Friday to the tune of a 12-4 victory.
WVU will be back in action early this week, hosting Radford for a two-game midweek series beginning at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3.
The Mountaineers have only played one home game to this point, destroying Ohio 19-6 in the home opener on Feb. 25.
