An injury to an All-American may shake up the Big 12 with only a handful of games left before the conference tournament.

Texas Tech’s JT Toppin will have season-ending surgery after tearing his ACL in the Red Raiders’ loss to Arizona State on Tuesday night.

Toppin, a junior out of Dallas, Texas, has averaged 21.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 54.8% from the field.

At 19-7 and 9-4 in the Big 12, Texas Tech was considered a legitimate contender, both to win the Big 12 Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.

However, Toppin’s absence now takes away the Texas Tech’s top scoring option and likely drastically diminishes their chances in the postseason.
