A couple Mountaineers and a West Virginia in-state product will take part in the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine starting at the end of the month. The NFL Combine is regarded as the premier event of the offseason for draft hopefuls to leave an impact on teams before the NFL Draft.

Dante Stills and Bryce Ford-Wheaton, who just participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl in Las Vegas, are now on on the NFL’s official list of the players invited to be in Indianapolis. A total of 319 prospects were invited this year.

In addition to former WVU stars Stills and Ford-Wheaton, quarterback Tyson Bagent will represent Shepherd, a small school located in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Bagent is also from West Virginia, hailing from Martinsburg.

The NFL Combine, which takes place from Feb. 28 through March 6, serves as an annual right of passage for NFL Draft hopefuls. It’s a week-long spectacle at Lucas Oil Stadium, where the top NFL Draft prospects run drills and are physically tested by NFL personnel.

Stills completed his eligibility at WVU after the 2022 season, adding to his individual legacy by breaking the program’s all-time tackles for a loss record. Ford-Wheaton made 62 receptions for 675 yards and caught seven touchdowns in 2022 before deciding to declare for the NFL Draft.

And as for Bagent, he threw for 4,580 yards in 2022 to follow posting exactly 5,000 yards passing in 2021. He also completed 70% of his passes and tossed 41 touchdowns this past season, totaling 91 the last two years combined. Bagent competed at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama last week.
