The name Jedd Gyorko is known well beyond West Virginia. So much so that Gyorko’s name was brought up to former Mountaineer and current minor league sensation Victor Scott II during a podcast appearance.

While Scott was talking to the hosts of the “Baseball Bar-B-Cast” podcast on Sirius XM, he was asked how an Atlanta, Georgia native ended up playing college baseball in Morgantown, West Virginia.

“I want to know how a Georgia boy ends up in the land of Jedd Gyorko. Jedd Gyorko Way, baby!,” was said to Scott. And before he could give his answer, he felt the need to correct the hosts on something. “Jedd Gyorko Drive,” responded Scott with a big smile on his face.

Scott then explained how that street name is forever engrained in his head due to typing it into Google Maps and Waze so much navigating around campus at WVU.

All kidding aside, Gyorko will forever be a baseball hero in West Virginia after pivoting his success in college into a solid MLB career. But Scott is now making a name for himself too.

Victor Scott II is actually tearing it up in his first full MiLB season after being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2022 MLB Draft. The 22-year-old outfield prospect has been stacking stolen bases all season long and is currently sitting on 75.

Beyond the stolen bases, Scott is hitting .289 with 122 hits, 71 runs scored, four home runs and 47 RBI. He also owns a .361 OBP and a .750 OPS. Oh yeah, he’s been flashing leather defensively as well.
