WVU baseball product Caleb McNeely becomes the latest Mountaineer to sign a professional contract.

McNeely, West Virginia’s starting right fielder, signed with the nearby Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League. The deal was announced by the Wild Things on Tuesday afternoon.

McNeely made his lone season in Morgantown count, becoming one of WVU’s best hitters and helping lead the Mountaineers to a share of a Big 12 title and appearance in the NCAA Regional. He played three years at Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee before stepping up to Big 12 baseball.

McNeely posted a .296 batting average while hitting 13 home runs with 64 hits, 14 doubles, 49 RBI and scoring 48 runs. The highlight of McNeely’s season came when he hit for the cycle against Kansas State. This was only the fourth cycle in WVU baseball history.
