West Virginia baseball saw their hard work pay off Monday, as D1 Baseball’s latest rankings saw the Mountaineers named No. 24. It’s the first time the Mountaineers were ranked in the D1 poll since March 2021.

The Mountaineers are in the middle of a nine game win streak that’s seen them outscore their opponents 113-23.  They’ve dominated in every facet of the game, from offensive explosions to lockdown outings from their starting pitchers and bullpen. The honor comes now that West Virginia is 15-4 on the season, including a perfect 4-0 margin at home. They’ve got a five game home stand beginning ahead of conference play, giving them time to pad their resume ahead of the second half of the season.

Along with No. 14 Texas Tech, the Mountaineers are one of just two ranked teams in the Big 12. They’ll have a chance to prove their pedigree soon: West Virginia’s Big 12 schedule kicks off next weekend, starting at Kansas State on March 31.
