Big 12
West Virginia’s Full 2024 Big 12 Football Schedule Released
The full Big 12 football schedule for the new era of the conference has been officially released. WVU fans have known West Virginia’s conference opponents for the first year of the 16-team conference for months, but now know the order of the games and when each matchup will be played.
This schedule will kick into gear after the Mountaineers start the season with three straight non conference games. WVU will open the season with a chance at revenge against Penn State in Morgantown, another home game against Albany and then going up north to nearby Pittsburgh to face Pitt in the Backyard Brawl. Once the out of conference business is taken care of, the Mountaineers will then start conference play on Sept. 21 back home with Kansas in town before going on the road to meet Oklahoma State.
The only new Big 12 addition on WVU’s 2024 schedule is Arizona. West Virginia will take a trip across the country to Tucson on Oct. 26 to play the Wildcats in their debut season in the Big 12.
Below shows West Virginia’s entire schedule, now including the Big 12 games.
Aug. 31 – Penn State
Sept. 7 – Albany
Sept. 14 – @ Pitt
Sept. 21 – Kansas
Oct. 5 – @ Oklahoma State
Oct. 12 – Iowa State
Oct. 19 – Kansas State
Oct. 26 – @ Arizona
Nov. 7, 8 or 9 – @ Cincinnati
Nov. 16 – Baylor
Nov. 23 – UCF
Nov. 30 – @ Texas Tech
During the first four years of this new Big 12, all teams will play one another at least once home and away. Some matchups will occur over three seasons while others take place in all four. Matchups in 2024 that were also played in 2023 will not repeat at the same site.
The Conference looked to maintain the current 5/4, 4/5 home/away rotation for all 16 members to minimize non conference scheduling disruptions. Other important factors were balancing annual travel by distance and time zones as well as maintaining connectivity to rivalries without compromising a balanced rotation for all teams.
The Big 12 will compete as a 16-team conference for the first time in 2024. Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah will become members in the summer of 2024 joining Baylor, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech and West Virginia.
