WVU Basketball Back on Bubble After Bad Loss

WVU basketball appeared to have its at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament all locked up, but Wednesday’s loss to Colorado in the Big 12 Tournament introduced some doubt.
Following the 67-60 loss to the last-place team in the conference, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has put the Mountaineers back on the bubble.

At the end of the regular season, Lunardi had the Mountaineers as a lock to make the tournament, giving them a greater than 90% chance to earn a bid. As of his 8 p.m. update Wednesday night, Lunardi had West Virginia as a No. 9 seed in the tournament, taking on eighth-seeded Marquette in a first-round matchup in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Mountaineers sit at No. 53 in the KenPom rankings following the loss.
WVU lost 67-60 to Colorado in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament Wednesday afternoon. The Buffaloes were the tournament’s No. 16 seed as the last-place team in the conference. It is easily WVU’s worst loss since losing at TCU on Feb. 5 and, arguably, is the Mountaineers’ worst loss of the season based on the opponent. Colorado went just 3-17 in Big 12 play this season.
WVU basketball will have to wait until Selection Sunday to learn its tournament fate. The NCAA Tournament selection show will be broadcast starting at 6 p.m. this Sunday.

My personal opinion is WVU still deserves to be “tourney bound”. This loss just showed our season in a nutshell. We can play with any team in country on any given night but we can also lose to any team as well. It’s been a double edged sword. This loss could actually help us by getting a 10 seed compared to the dreaded 8/9 seeding (8/9 plays #1 seed in the round of 32). If the committee truly breaks down this entire season, they will see WVU deserves to be a no brainer tourney team. This team is capable of being eliminated in the 1st round that is no doubt….BUT….this team is also capable of catching fire and making a deep tourney run!!!

LOL!!! WVU THE MOST HATED TEAM IN THE BIG 12. THE EVIL CONTROLLERS TRIED TO GET WVU TO PLAY HOUSTON AGAIN. NOTICE NO OTHER TEAM WAS SET TO PLAY HOUSTON. WVU GAVE THE BIG 12 CONTROLLERS THE MIDDLE FINGER AND THREW THE GAME SO THEY COULD INSTEAD FOCUS ON THE NCAAA TOURNAMENT.SMART. LETS GO MAKE A DEEP RUN IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT. SOME WEALTHY POS WILL PAY THE REFS TO TRY TO HELP WVU LOSE IN THE BIG DANCE. WVU ALWAYS PLAYS AGAIST THREE OR MORE TEAMS IN EVERY GAME. NO ONE HAS THE BALLS TO ARREST THE BIG 12 CONTROLLERS. AMERICA HAS BECOME A SHAMEFUL SOFT COUNTRY THAT LETS EVIL WEALTHY PEOPLE CONTROLL THE OUTCOCME OF GAMES. PATHETIC!!!

This team does not deserve a bid
The players cannot play a full 40 minutes and
The coach appears unable to make live time adjustments to its defense or its offense and is unable to get open shots for its best player
Go home boys, it’s over

The team is thin, which means unsuited for tournaments. In the age of NIL, depth is a team need unsupported by players.
I like Joe Lunardi. He was good enough to share his press guide after WVU embarrassed themselves at a tournament in Myrtle Beach under Bobby. He is not the strongest bracketologist because CBS has the tournament and closest ties to the committee.
Jerry Palm at CBS has WVU as an at large 11 seed. Feels like bubble if others excel. Check his record vs Joe.
