WVU Basketball Signs Honor Huff, the Nation’s Top Shooter

WVU coach Ross Hodge has added the best shooter in the country, officially signing Honor Huff to the Mountaineers Monday afternoon.

“We are excited to have Honor Huff be part of the Mountaineer basketball program,” Hodge said. “Honor has been part of winning, most recently the NIT championship. He has a great personality that people gravitate towards and will represent the state and the university well.”

Huff, a junior from Brooklyn, NY, led the nation with 131 made three-pointers at Chattanooga this season, shooting 41.6% from range. Honor Huff began his career at VMI in 2021-22, earning a spot on the Southern Conference all-freshman team by averaging 10 points per game while shooting 44% from the floor.

He then transferred to Chattanooga and sat out the 2022-23 season. He started all 33 games in 2023-24, averaging 17.4 points and making 109 three-pointers. Huff was named All-Southern Conference second team.

This season, Huff averaged 15.2 points per game while leading the country with 131 three-pointers. He shot 42.4% from the floor and 41.6% from range. He earned All-Southern Conference first-team honors.

Huff helped Chattanooga go 29-9 this season and win the NIT championship. In the final against UC Irvine, Huff scored 14 points despite shooting just 3-of-13 from the field and 3-of-11 from three.

Huff set career highs of 31 points and nine three-pointers in a game against VMI this season.

Huff is the fourth transfer to commit to the Mountaineers along with Troy’s Jackson FieldsUNC-Wilmington’s Harlan Obioha and North Texas’s Brenen Lorient. High school recruit DeAndre Thomas Jr. has also committed to WVU.
