WVU basketball head coach Ross Hodge open the week locking up the addition of Brenen Lorient, one of his former North Texas players who brings Final Four experience to West Virginia.

“We are thrilled to have Brenen Lorient at West Virginia University. Brenen has won at every level of basketball and brings with him Final Four experience. He has improved every year and has an incredibly high basketball ceiling,” said Hodge about Lorient.

Lorient committed to follow Hodge to WVU on April 8, just two days after entering the transfer portal. He will come to West Virginia as a senior.

Lorient averaged 11.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game as a junior this season. He was voted first-team All-AAC and was the American Athletic Conference Sixth Man of the Year.

He came off the bench in all 36 games during his lone season with the Mean Greene. He spent the first two years of his career playing a minor role and experiencing a Final Four run at Florida Atlantic. The Florida native shot 57.1% from the floor and averaged better than a block per game at UNT.

His best performance of the year was a 20-point, eight-rebound outing against Temple in January, setting season highs in both categories.

Lorient is the second member of WVUโ€™s transfer class, joining UNC Wilmingtonโ€™s Harlan Obioha, who committed earlier this week.
