WVU Football shake hands after spring game

WVU football has released its first official depth chart ahead of its season opener against Coastal Carolina this Saturday.

Head coach Rich Rodriguez is working to preserve the mystery of the starting quarterback position, listing junior Michael Hawkins or freshman Scotty Fox. It’s worth noting it’s been reported and is widely believed to be Hawkins’ job.

It’s no surprise senior Cam Cook is the starting running back, with sixth-year Jaden Bray, senior John Neider and fifth-year DJ Epps filling the starting receiver spots. Senior Cyrus Trough is listed as the second string for both the Z and Y receiver slots.

The only starting freshman on the roster is left tackle Kevin Brown, a splash signing from the offseason.

Senior Ben cutter is the team’s starting mike linebacker with sophomore Cam Torbor at the will and junior Harper Holloman at the bandit.

Freshman safety Matt Sieg has a chance to be a starter, as he is listed below senior Andrew Powdrell with an “or” indication. He is also listed below DJ Epps for both punt and kick returner slots with an “or” designation as well.

Senior Corey McIntire leads the defensive tackle unit while the starting edges could be fifth-year Zeke Durham-Campbell or junior Darius Whiley.

West Virginia will kickoff the 2026 season at home against Coastal Carolina on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for noon ET and will follow a pregame ceremony to honor program legend and member of the current coaching staff Pat White.
