WVU Football agreed to six future home games at Milan Puskar Stadium, announcing their schedule updates in a Tuesday, June 10 press release. The scheduled games include five different individual opponents, with the Mountaineers facing three of those opponents (UT-Martin, Akron and Rhode Island) for the first time.

The Mountaineers will host UT-Martin on Sept. 12, 2026; Youngstown State on Sept. 9, 2028; Akron on Sept. 16, 2028 and Sept. 14, 2030, and Rhode Island on Aug. 31, 2030. The Mountaineers also added an Aug. 30, 2031 home date against VMI, who they’re already scheduled to face in 2027. Their game against Rhode Island replaces a matchup against St. Francis (Pa.) which will drop from Division I to Division III in 2026.

Of the two teams West Virginia has already faced, VMI and Youngstown State, the Mountaineers possess a perfect record, going 11-0 against the Keydets and 2-0 against the Penguins; they last faced those programs in 1972 and 2018, respectively.

The Mountaineers head into the 2025 season following the guidance of head coach Rich Rodriguez, a Grant Town, W.Va. native who coached them from 2001 to 2007. Rodriguez led the team within reach of a BCS National Championship Game appearance in 2007, causing plenty of excitement for his return among fans who grew weary of the stagnant Neal Brown regime.
