The Mountaineers are trying to get in the mix for another transfer defensive back. According to our partners with the Portal Report, the WVU football program has reached out to UAB transfer AJ Brown.

In addition to West Virginia, Brown has heard from Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Troy, Rice and Louisiana-Monroe since he officially became available in the transfer portal on Dec. 14.

The 6-foot, 195-pound Marietta, Ga. native has two more years left of eligibility. He spent three years at UAB, including a redshirt season in 2022.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2024, Brown played in all 12 games and recorded 31 total tackles, one sack, a couple takes for a loss, an interception and a pass deflection. He made seven tackles in limited time in 2023.
