WVU Women Continue Minimal Movement in Top 25

The WVU women’s basketball team continues to make minimal movement in the AP Top 25 poll, shifting just one spot from last week. The Mountaineers (10-1) come in at No. 14 this week, up one spot from their placement a week ago.
WVU again played just once this past week, defeating Temple 68-64 on Sunday in the team’s first true road game of the season.
JJ Quinerly, who missed the No. 15 Mountaineersโ Dec. 6 win with a wrist injury, made her way back into the starting lineup and took the court for 26 minutes, picking up 11 points and seven rebounds.
Kyah Watson led the field with 15 points โ tied with Temple senior Tiarra East โ and made it a double-double with ten accompanying rebounds. Junior forward Cรฉlia Riviรจre added 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
WVU is the final team in a trio of Big 12 squads in the Top 25, just behind TCU (No. 12) and Kansas State (No. 13). Iowa State, Utah and Oklahoma State all received votes.
NET Rankings
WVU returned to No. 10 in the NCAA’s NET rankings, also released on Monday. The Mountaineers debuted at No. 10 in the initial NET Rankings, but fell to No. 12 last week.
Like the Top 25, WVU is third in the Big 12 behind Kansas State (No. 3) and TCU (No. 7) in the NET Rankings.
The Mountaineers again play just one time this week, but begin their conference schedule, traveling to Boulder, CO to take on Colorado on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
