Jesse Edwards experienced his first taste of real NBA action on Sunday. The former Mountaineer played exactly two minutes of Minnesota’s 116-98 win over Phoenix.

Edwards didn’t get to registrar any statistics, but did enter a game for the first time since signing a two-way contact with the Timberwolves organization after going undrafted in July of 2024. He subbed out NBA super-star Anthony Edwards when the game appeared to be decided late in the fourth quarter.

Edwards earned his eventual contract after being invited to the NBA draft combine, where he spent a week in Chicago with other prospects.

The WVU basketball program celebrated Edwards’ NBA debut on social media on Monday morning.

The former Mountaineer and Syracuse Orange played in the Reeseโ€™s Division-I All-Star Game during the Final Four weekend in Phoenix, Az. The 6-foot-11 big man finished with eight points, nine rebounds and two blocks in 16 minutes. Edwards also recorded eight points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocks during the final game of the G League Elite Camp session.

Edwards averaged 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks through 23 games with the Mountaineers. Edwards was sidelined for over a month with a fractured right wrist from December to January.
