WATCH: WVU Tight End Commit is a Beast in the Weight Room
Swedish tight end Victor Wikstrom is the second European player to commit to WVU from the German-based PPI Recruits program after Dutch cornerback Jairo Faverus. Standing 6’4”, 235 pounds, Wikstrom cuts an imposing figure but that frame may not be the most impressive thing about the 2021 recruit.
Anyone who looks at the Swede’s Twitter page will quickly see that Wikstrom is a weight room warrior and is constantly working to get bigger, faster, and stronger. At his size, the tight end has run a laser-timed 4.51 40 yard dash, a number that would have ranked second at his position at this past year’s NFL Draft Combine. Then, just this morning, Wikstrom posted a video of himself setting a new personal record in the deadlift, clocking in at an impressive 240 kilograms (507 pounds).

Wikstrom is very much an under-the-radar prospect, coming all the way from Sweden. However, if WVU can help him hone this natural athletic gifts once he gets to Morgantown, he has all the tools to be an outstanding player. As the European recruiting market opens up, expect to see more players like Victor Wikstrom make their way to Morgantown.
