Former WVU forward Mohamed Wague entered the transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by Verbal Commits. Wague leaves Alabama after one season under Nate Oats.

Wague, a 6-foot-10 Bronx, New York native, averaged 3.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 33 games for the Crimson Tide. Wague appeared in four NCAA Tournament games during Alabama’s run to the Final Four.

Wague has one year of eligibility remaining.

Wague transferred out of West Virginia following Bob Huggins’ resignation back in June. WVU players were given an extra 30-day window to enter the transfer portal and Wague explored his options while West Virginia was deciding on a head coach. Wague received a lot of Power-5 interest while visiting Alabama and Kansas State during his recruitment.

Wague spent the 2022-2023 season as a Mountaineer after beginning his college career at Harcum College in Pennsylvania. He appeared in 28 games, averaging 4.1 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game and shooting 74% from the floor. Wague’s season was cut short the final month of the year after suffering a foot injury.

Former Mountaineers Jamel King, Taj Thweatt, Josiah Davis and James Okonkwo have all re-entered the portal during this spring cycle. WVU’s current team has had seven players open their recruitments.
