West Virginia to Host 2022 4-Star RB Justin Williams for Official Visit

College football programs around the country are busy finalizing plans to start hosting high school recruits for official visits in June and West Virginia has a highly rated back planning to travel to Morgantown.

2022 4-star running back Justin Williams tells West Virginia Sports Now that one of his five official visits will be to West Virginia. Williams (6-foot-0, 200-pounds) is from East Paulding High School in Dallas, Georgia and holds offers from programs such as Louisville, Nebraska, Minnesota, South Florida, Arkansas, Duke, Kansas State, Memphis, Michigan State, NC State, Ole Miss, Pitt, Tennessee and USC.

Rivals.com currently rates Williams as one of the top 25 running backs in the Class of 2022.

Relationships are a huge aspect in recruiting and the one Williams has formed with West Virginia assistant Chad Scott is a big reason the Mountaineers are in serious contention for this talented back.

“My talks with West Virginia really started late last year,” Williams tells West Virginia Sports Now. “Coach Scott called me and told me how much he loved my film and since then, we’ve developed a strong relationship. He’s a very enthusiastic coach and seems really fired up about teaching me more about football. Plus, we talk more than football and talk a lot of life things. It’s almost like a big brother type situation now.”

“The trust factor and relationship that we’ve developed is a huge thing for me. I want to go to a college where I can completely trust my coaches and know that the coaches are going to have my back when I get there. That will be a big factor for me when I eventually make my decision.”

To this point, Williams has decided on two official visits: Nebraska (June 4-6), West Virginia (June 11-13). I asked him aside from his relationship with Coach Scott led him to use one of his visits to West Virginia.

“Coach Brown and I also have a pretty good relationship,” said Williams. “I’m a big relationships guy so having one with the head coach is key. Plus, West Virginia runs the ball a lot and well, which was a big factor for me. West Virginia likes to use a lot of screen plays and run the inside zone, which I feel like is my strong point and would allow me to fit in well with in their offense.”

“I’m really excited to get out on all of my official visits and this will obviously be a big deal for me. Finally getting a chance to see these colleges will really help me make my decision. I didn’t want to try and pick a college blind almost and not have a chance to see the facilities or personally meet and talk to the coaches. I’m really excited to get out and take these visits.”

Last season at East Paulding High School, Williams rushed for 1,477 yards and added 286 yards through the air.
