WVU Signee Patrick Suemnick’s Season Ends With NJCAA Final Four Run
During this week, West Virginia signee Patrick Suemnick has been playing his heart out for Triton College, his JUCO team. Suemnick led Triton to the NJCAA Final Four as an 11-seed in the tournament with an overall record of 30-6.
The Trojans ran past three schools before losing to No. 10 Northwest Florida State on Friday night. Triton defeated No. 22 Caldwell Tech, No. 6 Indian River and No. 3 Kilgore during the week in Hutchinson, KS.
Suemnick averaged 12.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.8 blocks through the four-game tournament run. Teams tried to take Suemnick out of the game, game planning their defenses to focus on the future Mountaineer.
Suemnick tells WV Sports Now that he committed to becoming the next “glue guy” at West Virginia starting next season.
“I’m just someone who’s going to be versatile, bring energy,” he said. “I think the toughness that you normally see with a Bob Huggins team, that’s something I think I can bring back and restore. Obviously, we have guys like [Pauly] Paulicap and Gabe [Osabuohien], but we’re going to be losing a lot of that toughness.”
Suemnick committed to West Virginia in October and signed with the team in November
