WVU alumnus, retired NFL punter, popular podcast host and now WWE wrestler Pat McAfee defeated his former roommate Happy Corbin at WWE’s SummerSlam on Saturday. It was the fifth match in McAfee’s young WWE career.

McAfee and Corbin were roommates as rookies with the Indianapolis Colts during their training camp in 2009. McAfee was a seventh round pick of the Colts that year and spent eight seasons with them before retiring at the young age of 29 due to several knee issues towards the end of his career.

Corbin, whose real name is Thomas Pestock, didn’t last long with the Colts. He was released by the team twice in the first few months. He’d spend a few years on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad before signing a deal with the WWE in 2012 where he has since competed under some variation of the ring name Baron Corbin.

Their relationship was used as the basis for the feud. It started after McAfee took a jump commentating for WWE’s Smackdown brand and used it to make fun of Corbin, for which he confronted McAfee. Corbin would then start attacking McAfee, who said that Corbin has an ego now since joining the WWE.

McAfee won the feud at SummerSlam, one of WWE’s two premier events with the other being Wrestlemania, which happens yearly in the spring. He celebrated his victory by drinking a beer with a fan ringside.
