Daniels reportedly called Neal Brown and announced his commitment to the WVU football program on Wednesday morning. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound transfer spent two seasons at Georgia in 2020-21, compiling a 7-0 record as a starter. Prior to his stint in Athens, Daniels ran into current WVU offensive coordinator Graham Harrell during his pair of seasons playing for USC in 2018-19.
Daniels chose West Virginia over Oregon State and Missouri.
“It definitely helped knowing Graham coming into it and having a really good relationship with him,” Daniels said of his selection. “Knowing that I trust that offense and that system, and I believe in it. I also feel really comfortable with Coach Brown and the ideas that he has and the way that he runs a program.”
Of the offensive schemes Daniels will inherit, he told ESPN, “Going up and down the roster, I feel like they have very, very good pieces everywhere. It feels like a great fit for quarterback. I feel like there’s a really, really, really good team that I’m going to step into and do my part to contribute.”
