WVU Football Loses 2026 4-Star QB Due to Firing of Neal Brown

Monday morning kicks off with the WVU football program enduring a major hit to recruiting due to the firing of head coach Neal Brown.
Top 2026 quarterback Brodie McWhorter revealed that he’s withdrawing his commitment to the Mountaineers. McWhorter’s decision comes after he posted a picture with Brown and “doesn’t even feel right. Can’t thank this man enough – LEGENDARY” as the caption for his initial reaction to the news on Sunday.

McWhorter is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback out of Cass High School in Kingston, Ga. He was on campus for a visit for WVU’s home finale against UCF.
Two major national recruiting outlets rank McWhorter as a four-star while one awards him only three stars.
To put McWhorter’s recruitment in context, he has offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Michigan State, North Carolina and Ohio State among others. And in addition to those offers, Alabama, Clemson, Louisville, LSU, South Carolina and Tennessee have also expressed interest.
McWhorter was the second commitment for WVU’s 2026 class when he announced back in June.
