WVU Basketball Shoots Up KenPom Rankings After Battle 4 Atlantis

WVU basketball has shot up the KenPom rankings following the Mountaineers’ impressive week in the Bahamas.

WVU went into the Battle 4 Atlantis ranked No. 71 by KenPom and have now jumped 20 spots up to No. 51.

West Virginia (5-2) picked up a pair of impressive ranked wins at the Battle 4 Atlantis over No. 3 Gonzagaย andย No. 24 Arizona. WVU also took tournament runner-up Louisville down to the wire as the Mountaineers went into overtime in all three tournament games.

WVU is now ranked ninth out of the 16 Big 12 teams. Four Big 12 teams remain in the top 10 with Houston (No. 5), Iowa State (No. 6), Kansas (No. 7) and Cincinnati (No. 9).

WVU basketball seniors Tucker DeVries and Javon Small were both named to the Battle 4 Atlantis all-tournament teamย on Saturday.

Small averaged 23.7 points per game with 17 rebounds, 17 assists and six steals. He scored 31 points in the teamโ€™s upset win over Gonzaga on Wednesday.

DeVries averaged 16.7 points per game with 12 total three-pointers in the tournament. He scored a team-high 26 points in the win over Arizona.

West Virginia’s next game is Friday at home against Georgetown. The Hoyas are ranked No. 86 by KenPim with a 6-1 record.
