Cottrell visited Washington last week.
Cottrell announced on March 16 that he would enter his name into the transfer portal. Cottrell was irritated about playing out of position. The 6-foot-10 forward played center the entire season, where his natural position is at the four.
The Las Vegas native spent two seasons at West Virginia, starting the majority of his second year at the center position. In 33 games this past season, the Las Vegas native averaged 4.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.7 blocks. Cottrell shot 34 percent from the field and 31 percent from three.
Cottrell has four years of eligibility remaining.
