Miles McBride Contributes to Christmas Day Win for Knicks
Playing on Christmas Day is a big deal in the NBA, and a former Mountaineer was able to experience the holiday stage this year. Miles McBride may not have had his best game, but he did help the Knicks secure a big 117-114 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
McBride scored eight points while also adding three rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes of action. This comes after he scored 12 points earlier in the week against Toronto on Monday. The Knicks now own a 20-10 record as a team on the season.
McBride, who missed time in the beginning of the season with an injury, entered the day averaging 10.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 24 games this season.
Despite being interrupted by injury, McBrideโs season has already been historic from a personal perspective.
McBride reached 1,000 career points while contributing to the Knicksโ 145-118 win over the Denver Nuggets on Nov. 25.
Prior returning from injury last month, McBride was averaging 10.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists per game and a shooting percentage of 44% through 11 games played. McBrideโs last game played before Monday on was Nov. 13.
The 2024-25 season marks McBrideโs fourth NBA year after wrapping up a college career with WVU.
McBride wrapped up his third NBA season for the Knicks in May, falling to the Indiana Pacers in game seven of the Eastern Conference semifinals. McBride saw increased play, including starting during the playoffs. McBride averaged 8.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists through 68 regular season games and 11.0 points on 44% shooting in 26.7 minutes per contest in the playoffs.
Last December, McBride signed a $13 million extension with the Knicks over the next three years. The Knicks traded away several players throughout the season, allowing McBride to pick up more minutes in the rotation.
McBride played two seasons at West Virginia from 2019-21, leading the Mountaineers to an NCAA Tournament appearance during his sophomore year. McBride averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game at WVU.
