Game Details for WVU Football Season Finale at Texas Tech TBD After Next Game
The regular-season finale for WVU football at Texas Tech will be determined at a later date. The Big 12 has excised the six-day window for the game, leaving it to either air on a Fox or ESPN network.
West Virginia (5-5, 4-3 Big 12) will travel to Lubbock for the final game of the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 30 to take on the Red Raiders (6-4, 4-3).
The Mountaineers are hosting the UCF Golden Knights for their Senior Day and home finale this Saturday in a game where oddsmakers slightly favor the visitors. Texas Tech travels to Oklahoma State this week.
Following a 5-1 start to the year, the Red Raiders have lost three of their last four games. Most recently, Texas Tech fell to Colorado, 41-27, on Nov. 9. The Red Raiders got out to a 13-0 start in that game, but the Buffaloes out up 31 second-half points to come away with the victory.
West Virginia lost 49-35 on Saturday against Baylor.
A high-scoring first half gave way to a defensive-focused third quarter as the Bears hung on to a touchdown lead, 35-28. Baylor scored twice in the fourth quarter to go up by 21 points, 49-28 and a WVU touchdown with less than a minute to play was too little, too late for the home team.
It was the third straight home loss by double digits for the Mountaineers, who are 2-4 in Morgantown this season.
The Mountaineers are 7-6 all-time against Texas Tech. That includes identical 3-3 marks both at home and on the road. WVU won a neutral site game in 1938, the programs’ one and only meeting until becoming conference-mates in 2012.
TTU had won four-straight in the series until West Virginia picked up a win in Morgantown last season. Backup quarterback Nicco Marchiol made his first start and led the Mountaineers to a 20-13 victory.
For a related story, Garrett Greene was ‘okay, not good enough’ in his return for WVU football.
