Even though the WVU football program is one win away from reaching bowl eligibility, oddsmakers have good reason to doubt the Mountaineers in their pursuit of achieving their sixth win this week.

In fact, most major sportsbooks view West Virginia as an underdog to UCF. Both DraftKings and FanDuel open their lines with the Knights as a -3 to open the week.

UCF has endured an up and down season of their own and itโ€™s possible oddsmakers see WVU being at home as a disadvantage. The 2024 Mountaineers enter Week 13 with a 2-4 record at home this season, with one of the wins coming at the hands of an FCS school.

While West Virginia still has a chance at a postseason, granted not the one they dreamed of all offseason, both Garrett Greene and Reid Carrico mentioned that they are only focused on just trying to get a win in the next game.

West Virginia is on the heels of a 49-35 loss to Baylor while the Knights are coming off a bye. At 4-6, UCF needs to win out in order to be eligible for a bowl game.

After their latest home loss, WVU sits at 5-5 overall and 4-3 in Big 12 play. Conversely, UCF had only one win in their last seven games before the week off.

Likely leading to the small line, UCF is no better at 1-3 on the road as West Virginia is at home.

Kickoff between the Mountaineers and Knights is set for 3:30 pm ET and the game will air on ESPNU.
