How Did Zach Frazier Perform for Steelers in NFL Regular Season Debut?
Zach Frazier made a couple starts during the preseason, but the NFL regular season is a different animal. So how did the rookie center do for the Steelers in their season opening win over the Atlanta Falcons?
Frazier, who was named Pittsburgh’s starting center after Nate Herbig suffered a serious injury, earned a PFF grade of 83.3 from his NFL regular season debut. Frazier’s grade ranked him second among all centers across the NFL in Week 1.
In 29 pass pro snaps, Frazier posted a zero across the board. He allowed zero pressures, zero hits, zero hurries and zero sacks.

And despite failing to get into the end zone, the Steelers won the game 18-10.
Even though Frazier wanted to earn the Steelers starting job by full merit and not thanks to an injury, the rookie center expressed being confident in himself and he’s ready for the opportunity going into the season.
“I’d never wish that on anyone. I feel really bad for Nate (Herbig), but he’s really helped me out a lot. He didn’t have to help me at all. I wouldn’t be as far as I am right now without him,” said Frazier about how Herbig has been a mentor to him.
Frazier’s next test will be another road game. The Steelers travel to Denver to take on the Broncos on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 4:25 pm ET and the game will air on CBS throughout the Pittsburgh market.
