WVU women’s basketball head coach Mark Kellogg recently reflected on the success of the 2025-2026 season, as well as their shortcomings in March.

“There was a ton of success, I had as much fun coaching that group as any group that I’ve had,” Kellogg told WV Sports Now’s Mike Asti at the Pittsburgh stop of the WVU Coaches Caravan. “Obviously winning a Big 12 Tournament title, the Greenbrier game, and other wins throughout the season. That’s how we try to look at it.”

Following winning their first Big 12 title under Kellogg, and first for the program since 2017, the Mountaineers lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament for a third consecutive year.

“Do I want that shot back against Kentucky? Did I want to win that game for those fans and for our program? You’re dang right,” Kellogg said. We still haven’t gotten past that second round to the Sweet 16 yet. We’ve only been to one of those in our school’s history. So there’s so many things that I want to accomplish here. We know now we’re so close to kicking that door down. I thought we still took a step in the right direction.”

Kellogg also reflected on the team’s success in terms of getting players signed to the WNBA. Giving Kellogg two WNBA players in as many years, Jordan Harrison signed as a free agent with the expansion Portland Fire after going undrafted, granted she was then waived a week later.

“[Jordan Harrison] is everything that I knew she would be if they would just give her the opportunity,” Kellogg said. “Between her and JJ [Quinerly], we got two pros.”

When discussing next season, Kellogg hopes that the success of last year can carry over, both on and off the court in furthering fan support.

“I hope we can use those last games as momentum and keep getting more fans to come watch us and support us. We need butts in seats,” Kellogg said. “Obviously there’s a money component to it too, but as much as anything, keep coming with your passion and the pride that our fans have for their university and hopefully for our basketball program.”
