Kyzir White Patiently Waiting

Published

on

The first round of the NFL Draft came and went last night and Kyzir White did not hear his name called.

In reality, he didn’t expect to hear his name announced as a first-round draft pick. But as the second and third rounds are nearing closer, White may soon find an NFL team procuring his services.

The biggest question mark surrounding White is not his size. It’s not his physical attributes. Its where his future employer puts him.

At 6′ 2″ and 218 pounds, he’s already sporting an NFL-ready frame as a safety. If he adds a little weight, he could easily move into the box as a linebacker. Luckily for White and after playing the SPUR position in West Virginia’s defense, he’s ready for the challenge.

The next question becomes who takes a flyer on White and uses its pick to secure his talents?

There are only a handful of teams that are in need of safety help and even fewer that have that can afford to let White adjust to the speed of the NFL.

Here are four possible teams that may select White in either the third or second round.

Green Bay – 45th pick, second round

The Packers already have HaHa Clinton-Dix at safety but he serves the role of a cover safety more than anything. Green Bay has made it known they are in search of another corner to compliment Clinton-Dix and White may be that guy.

Seattle Seahawks – 76th pick, third round

Seattle’s “Legion of Boom” is coming to a close, but they can reignite some of that flame by bringing in another hard-hitting safety like White.

Baltimore Ravens – 65th pick, third round

The Ravens believe they found their quarterback of the future in Lamar Jackson after selecting him with the final pick in the first round. But Ravens fans are longing for another Ed Reed-like safety to roam the secondary.

Arizona Cardinals – 97th pick, third round

The Cardinals in questionable fashion said goodbye to Tyrann Mathieu this offseason. With either a cornerback or safety, Arizona can replenish some of their secondary.
