WVU Football LB commit Michael Hastie

All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU Football Roster.

Mike Hastie had more than two dozen college offers but still decided to commit to the WVU Football ahead of his senior year in high school. He announced his decision in June 2024, then doubled down six months later on National Signing Dayโ€ฆ even after the firing of former head coach Neal Brown.

A three-star recruit out of high school, Hastie is a 6-foot-3, 222 pound middle linebacker who racked up more than 300 career tackles while playing for a perennial Georgia powerhouse.

While the Mountaineers have seasoned veterans like Ben Bogle and Chase Wilson likely to take up snaps at linebacker this season, donโ€™t count Hastie out as an early contributor.

Camp outlook: Older transfers like Bogle and Wilson have the best chance of starting for WVU Football in 2025 (depending what type of personnel grouping new defensive coordinator Zac Alley prefers), but Hastieโ€™s solid tackling ability could help him get on the field early.

Projected role: Although most young players take a redshirt year to develop, Hastie can play in up to four games and preserve that status, whether as a rotational player or on special teams.

Accolades, highlights: A three-star recruit out of high school, Hastie earned two defensive player of the year awards in his native Georgia.
