Oregon transfer Quincy Guerrier was contacted by West Virginia’s coaching staff, a source tells WV Sports Now. Guerrier entered the portal on April 18.

Guerrier (6-foot-7) spent the last two seasons at Oregon under Dana Altman. Guerrier averaged 9.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in 36 games for the Ducks. The Montreal, Canada, native shot 42 percent from the field and 35 percent from three. Guerrier began his career at Syracuse, playing two seasons at that stint.

Guerrier has one year of eligibility and due to being a fifth-year player next season, shouldn’t have to sit out with the new transfer rules.

Guerrier played with current Mountaineer transfer commit Jesse Edwards during his time at Syracuse. Guerrier and Edwards were teammates from 2019-21.

Just days into Guerrier’s recruitment, Illinois has become a favorite to land the Oregon transfer.

West Virginia’s staff has recently contacted Montana State’s RaeQuan Battle and Kentucky’s CJ Fredrick. Battle is scheduled to visit WVU starting on Saturday until Monday. Battle started in all 35 games this past season, averaging 17.7 points on 47 percent shooting from the field, 35 percent from three and 83 percent from the free throw line.
