West Virginia basketball is set to host top transfer guard RaeQuan Battle for an official visit this weekend, a source tells WV Sports Now. Battle is scheduled to be in Morgantown from Saturday to Monday.

West Virginia’s staff reached out to Battle on Thursday, wasting no time getting him on campus. Battle has received interest from many other Power-5 programs including Alabama, Arizona, Cal, Clemson, Louisville, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Texas Tech, UCF, UCLA, Wake Forest, Washington and others.

Battle entered the portal as a top-10 guard, according to On3 Sports.

Battle (6-foot-5) entered the transfer portal this week, leaving Montana State after two years. Battle began his collegiate career at Washington. Battle started in all 35 games this past season, averaging 17.7 points on 47 percent shooting from the field, 35 percent from three and 83 percent from the free throw line. The Tulip, Wa. native scored 27 points against Kansas State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Battle was named to the All-Big Sky First Team during his senior year.

Battle did play with former WVU G Erik Stevenson during his time at Washington and has a connection with Emmitt Matthews as well. After Caleb Grill chose Missouri, WVU’s director of recruiting Jay Kuntz has been making contact with recent portal entries this week. Kuntz has continued to use current and former players as a resource in the recruitment of the portal.

West Virginia currently has four commitments from Jesse Edwards (C – Syracuse), Kerr Kriisa (G – Arizona), Jose Perez (G – Manhattan) and Omar Silverio (G – Manhattan).
