As Ross Hodge tries to put a roster together, he’s learning news about his first schedule as well. According to a report by John Rothstein of CBS Sports, WVU will take part in 2025 Charleston Classic.

Joining West Virginia, Georgia, Clemson and Xavier are expected to fill out the rest of the field. This season will mark the 18th year of the Charleston Classic, which will take place in the TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.

The official dates have yet to be announced, but the event was held on Nov. 21-24 in 2024.

WVU hired Hodge following the departure of Darian DeVries, who left for Indiana after only one season with the Mountaineers.

Hodge comes to WVU after two seasons as the head coach at North Texas, where he compiled a 46-23 record. Hodge signed a five-year contract.

โ€œI understand the great responsibility of continuing the tradition of Mountaineer Basketball and sincerely appreciate the trust and belief of (athletic director) Wren Baker, Presidents (Gordon) Gee and (Michael) Benson and the rest of the administration,โ€ Hodge said.

The 44-year-old Hodge spent eight total seasons at North Texas, six as the associate head coach under Grant McCasland, now Texas Techโ€™s head coach, and two as head coach. Hodge wrapped up his time with the Mean Green with a loss in the NIT Semifinals.

For a related story, Ross Hodge believes defenses is key to WVU winning Big 12 titles.
