WVU Football DL Coach Spends Time With Ohio Recruit Before OV
Before welcoming Carter Napier to Morgantown for a full weekend visit, WVU defensive line coach William Green drove to Springboro, Ohio to visit the defensive lineman recruit.
“Thank you Coach Green for stopping by the house after watching our teams showcase!!,” said Napier about Green’s visit to his home.
Led by Green, West Virginia has made sure to let Napier know of their serious interest since sending him an offer in late March.
Napier announced his West Virginia offer on Monday, March 23, saying Green called him directly to express their interest. Recently, he spent time with the coaches while visiting for spring practice.
A product of Springboro High School, Napier is listed at 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds. He’s considered a top 40 Ohio player for his class and just outside the top 100 defensive lineman nationally.
He was a First Team All-Conference player in 2025, sparking about 15 offers, including some from Power Four programs beyond West Virginia. Napier also has offers from Iowa, Iowa State and Pitt as well as lower level schools like Air Force, Army, Central Michigan, East Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Toledo and UConn.
Wisconsin has shown interest and invited Napier to spring practice, but has yet to extend an official offer.
