2027 Ohio WR Maintains His Longstanding Interest in WVU Football
Almost a year after sending Ohio wide receiver Trey Haddad his first Division I offer, the WVU football program remains in the hunt. Haddad even reciprocated his interest by rewarding West Virginia with a place among his top schools.
As of May 3, Haddad has the Mountaineers as part of a top five that also includes Buffalo, Kansas, Miami (OH) and Michigan State. Cincinnati and Texas A&M also offered the 2027 prospect, but do not appear to still be in the running.
Haddad, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound athlete from Ohio, was put to the test against many top players from around the region at a WVU camp last summer. He left that camp with a big endorsement from the West Virginia staff.
He even summarized what Garrett said to him to WV Sports Now. “I camped very well and they were impressed with my ball skills and route running,” said Haddad about what he heard from Garrett and other coaches while at the camp.
Haddad also noted being impressed with WVU’s facilities and everything the Mountaineer players have at their disposal.
A product of St. Ignatius High School near the Cleveland area, Haddad has led his team in both receptions and receiving yards in back-to-back years.
West Virginia extended Haddad his first Division I offer on June 1, 2025. He’s also on his school’s track team, giving him the distinction as a dual-sport athlete.
