WVU women’s basketball head coach Mark Kellogg announced the addition of Hawa Doumbouya to a grant-in-aid for the 2026-27 academic year.

Doumbouya, a Bronx, N.Y. native, comes to West Virginia after transferring from VVU.

“Hawa brings elite size, length, and a defensive presence to our program,” Kellogg said in a statement. “Her ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor, combined with her high basketball IQ and continued upside, makes her a tremendous fit. Her best basketball is in front of her, and we are thrilled to welcome her to Morgantown.”

The 6-foot-7 forward/center from the Bronx, New York, has played two seasons of collegiate basketball with two seasons of eligibility left. She played her freshman season at Maryland before redshirting the 2024-25 season at Virginia. Last season, she competed at VCU.

As a freshman, she saw action in 13 games and picked up season-highs in points (8), rebounds (5), assists (3), steals (1) and minutes (9) in a win over Towson. After redshirting at Virginia, she played in 15 games last season at VCU. She secured a season-high five rebounds against UT Arlington.
